FROM THE ROQUE DE LOS MUCHACHOS TO THE PICO DE LAS NIEVES
A "high altitude route" at the top of the island that borders the crest of the enormous crater of the La Caldera de Taburiente National Park. This route that will take us from Roque de los Muchachos to Pico de la Nieve is part of the GR-131 trail, also known as "El Bastón". Initially, we will be accompanied by the imposing telescopes of the Roque de Los Muchachos observatory complex (ORM), the most important set of telescopes in the planet's northern hemisphere. We will get to know them up close and we will go through the history of the creation of the IAC, the Instituto Astrofísico de Canarias. We will have spectacular panoramic views of the entire island throughout the tour, feeling like one of the incredible crows that fly over the peaks. Towards its ridge we will find Pico Bejenado, Cumbre Nueva and Cumbre Vieja along the famous route of the volcanoes and towards its western slope part of the Aridane Valley and always without losing sight of the infinite Atlantic Ocean. Sometimes the clouds will hide our view but they will offer us a landscape of incomparable beauty in which we will seem to be walking on top of them. We will pass through the Los Andenes area, we will tell the legend of Roberto's Wall, we will talk about geology crossing some volcanic dikes and we will learn to recognize the flora of the area. In spring the tajinaste, codeso and retama in bloom will fill our senses with emotions and colors. Here we will have the best view of the interior of the Caldera de Taburiente. We will continue heading north looking towards the coast part of the rural north-east: Garafía, Barlovento, San Andrés y Sauces, Puntallana. The path is comfortable, with not very significant slopes. On the horizon will be the islands of Tenerife with the Pico del Teide, La Gomera and El Hierro. From afar we will also see Cesar Manrique's sculpture entitled "Towards Infinity". We will pause at Pico de la Cruz (2,351 m) and continue along the path until we reach Pico de la Nieve (2,232 m), from there we will connect with the Roque de los Muchachos Highway (LP-4) where we will have left our car.

A GUIDED TOUR IN SMALL GROUPS
The excursion to the Roque de Los Muchachos takes place every Sunday, at some times of the year also other days of the week (see the calendar) The groups are not formed by more than 10 participants, which allows a better interaction between the tourist, the guide and the environment. We like to create a familiar and friendly atmosphere and respect the rhythms of everyone and especially of the place where we are. It is a medium difficulty path that can face all types of walkers with a minimum of experience and without physical problems related above all to the knees, since the path is, in part, downhill.
SOME INDICATIONS FOR YOUR TOUR IN THE ROQUE DE LOS MUCHACHOS:
We recommend the use of: - good trekking shoes or hiking boots; - suitable clothing for a mountain hike and hike poles if you are used to using them; - cap to protect yourself from the sun - Raincoat or jacket in the winter months in case it rains or gets cold. Is important to have: - something to eat for lunch; - some snacks and - at least 1 and a half liters of water, - sunscreen.
